Project Type | Hawk Course Renovation
Consistently ranked among the top modern courses in Canada, the Hawk Course is a stern test that celebrates the spectacular terrain it occupies.
In 2014, the Club initiated an ambitious greens renovation project that would eventually lead to the renovation of all 36 greens. The Club’s mandate for the project was to provide members with the most reliable and consistently smooth putting conditions possible, throughout the entire playing season. This goal was achieved by converting old poa annua putting surfaces to the most advanced bentgrass species available. Where old poa annua surfaces were slow to establish in spring, the new bentgrass surfaces consistently demonstrate excellent early-season playing conditions and extend late into fall.
Included as part of this ambitious project were three completely new green complexes at holes 2, 3 and 15. For these greens, a simple recontouring and resurfacing effort would not provide the outstanding playing conditions demanded by the Club’s discerning members. Instead, the green complexes were completely redesigned to enhance strategic interest, challenge and playability. The new greens appear to be part of the same family of greens, while being unique to their particular setting.
