Green Line LRT
Client | City of Calgary
Status | Ongoing
Project Type | Station Plaza Urban Design and Railway Garden Concepts
Ground cubed is the landscape architectural lead for Calgary’s Green Line LRT project and is responsible for the reference concepts for public realm and station plaza urban design and the project’s technical performance requirements for landscaping and urban design. The Green Line is a multi-billion-dollar transit investment with great potential to positively shape the future of Calgary through redevelopment and intensification.
With each station serving as a hub and gathering space for its surrounding communities, the Green Line is envisioned to provide year-round Place-making by improving, promoting and increasing available green space, with a priority toward functionality and relevance beyond conventional uses. Supported through station architecture, the associated programmable and flex plaza spaces are designed for outdoor comfort – maximizing sun exposure while mitigating negative aspects such as wind and noise.
