Nestled in the striking Bow River Valley in south Calgary, developers of the Blue Devil Golf Club imported over 750,000 cubic metres of fill to achieve a dramatic terrain on this previously flat gravel pit. The result is a course that rolls and heaves over the site with elevated tees, deep sprawling bunkers and bold elevated green complexes.
Designed in the grand sprit of the Golden Age of Golf Course Design of the early 1900s, the course features generous playing corridors with multiple lines-of-play. Players can swing confidently from the tee to wide fairways, however, to score well thoughtful players will recognize the need to place shots in strategic locations. Favouring a particular side of the hole will see these efforts rewarded with more receptive angles to tightly guarded greens. Bold green surface contouring emphasizes the need to play to the correct area of the green and reduce the potential for 3-putts.
LIL' DEVIL COURSE
A favourite of families and beginner golfers across south Calgary, the Lil’ Devil course is the ideal venue to introduce players to the game of golf and keep them coming back! This fun-filled, nine-hole course is a unique collection of par-three, four and fives ranging from 50 to 300 yards. This bunkerless course allows players to develop confidence in their game so they ultimately can take on the big course. What the course lacks in bunkers it more than makes up for with other unique challenges including: tightly mowed swales, rolls and other interesting ground-hugging features.
A short but diverse collection of holes features alternate tee locations providing golfers with the opportunity to mix-it-up and play two completely different courses.
