Who We Are
groundcubed planning is growing! We are looking for an Intermediate Planner to join our fun and dynamic team in our YYC studio. Our groundcubed family now has 50+ employees working at our studios in Calgary, Edmonton, the Bow Valley and in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. We are a multi-talented group of professionals that includes planners, landscape architects, civil engineers, technologists, zoo designers, a golf course architect and construction administrators. Oh, and many cute dogs too.

We work on public and private projects of every scale and through all project phases from feasibility, public engagement, master planning, planning approvals and concept development through to detailed design and construction. We’re doers and thinkers who lead with honesty and authenticity and value inclusivity. We believe the best planners and designers have curious minds, aren’t afraid to question tradition and like to solve problems.

What You’ll Do
groundcubed places great value on being a team-first, collaborative and creative studio environment. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who enjoys working on a variety of planning projects including visioning and master planning for parks and communities, public engagement, policy development, planning approvals and Transit-Oriented Community planning and design. We’re also looking for business development support for our Planning group on Request for Proposal submissions and beyond.

What You Bring
Do you have a secret talent or weird hobby? Do you enjoy urban parks, city life and music festivals as much as backcountry camping and mountain biking? These are the quirks and qualities we appreciate in people, so share it all with us and confirm that you have these important qualifications:

  • Must love dogs
  • A minimum of five years of diverse experience working on a range of planning projects
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with the planning approvals process in Calgary and presenting to approving authorities
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in open studio environment
  • An interest in a varied, ever-changing project portfolio and ability to shift and manage priorities
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for all things related to planning and design
  • Proficiency in graphics programs (Adobe Creative Suite) and AutoCAD is an asset
